At the risk of offending our Scottish hosts -

... even on the best of days, bagpipes can be somewhat grating, and none more so than when suffering from fairyfloss privation and crowd aversion

.. some of us had left the Collector Pumpkin Festival two years ago saying "never again", but the memories of wives and children are small...

... although the self same did enjoy another bout of scarecrow construction, pumpkin rolling and tractor dodgems

... but eventually the cold and crowds and cacophony got to all of us - there can't have been too many people left in Canberra!

This is more like it...
