Makarora

We set off today at the crack of 11.11am for Haast Pass.

A stunning drive past Lake Hawea with our first stop at Davis Flat for a BBQ lunch beside the river, surrounded by snow capped mountains. Simply awesome.

Next stop, Haast Pass lookout, a 30 minute (steep) uphill climb with promised spectacular views of the pass and mountains.

Then back down and off to the legendary blue pools, a 30 minute easy walk. One of the most beautiful spots in NZ.

However, I chose this - it epitomes spring in NZ, or at least, the South Island ;-)
