I Had a Little Beetle...

Alexander was his name


In fact as a child I had lots of pets, including a Jackdaw, spiders, beetles, newts, as well as the more normal mice, hamsters, guinea pigs, cats, dogs, ducks, hens, goats and a pony.
I invariably had a wild animal I was looking after, such as a baby hedgehog, a fox cub, baby wild rabbits.
At this time of year baby birds were often to be found in the airing cupboard, and fed on minced worms, flies or cat food.


This weekend I am chilled - mostly due to the weather, but also due to some delicious food and great company.
