Celebrating harvest
Mikaeli Market
A celebration with roots back to the Middle Age. In older days it was said in the regional regulations that on 29th of September the harvest should be finished. No cows or horses should be kept outside after the Mikaeli Day. It was also the time for the autumn cut of the sheep and in the south of Sweden it was time to seed, while in the north of S. was the beginning of winter.
Me and my youngest daughter enjoyed ourselves at the market. We do share a passion for vegetables and it was nice to taste pieces of the various food. Walking around chatting with men and women dressed as that time made us feel "those were the days".
