The Grand Canyon
Best viewed large
I haven't gambled all week, so earlier this week I took the money I would have spent and booked two tickets on a tour to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, rather than the West Rim thats closest to Vegas where most of the tourists go.
Flew from an airport located Downtown on a turboprop (the same type of aircraft that flies from Dundee Airport). Ride going out was very choppy (Mrs P was green at the end of it), but I enjoyed it as it flew over the Hoover Dam, lake mead, lots of hills, and landed at the Grand Canyon 45 minutes later...far better than the 5 hour bus ride my friend did a few years ago.
Got bussed to Bright Angel Lodge which was spectacular, then after an hour, we headed to Mather Point for another hour, which was also amazing. We took the drivers advice and keep waking west and headed to Yavapai Point where I took this shot. It's far nicer and has less tourists.
Ive got about 500 shots to sort through, but this is our last night in LV, so time to head out and get some after sun cream for me, then dinner. Hopefully I dont crash, as want to take some night trail shots later.

[Used the tripod & big stopper filter to take this shot and get the richness of the Canyon colours. Was great fun getting to play, even if i only had 5 minutes before we had to yomp back]
