may 4th

On may the 4th it is the day we remember those who died during World War II. (Dodenherdenking)
Flags hang at half-staff. Traditionally, the main ceremony is in Amsterdam at the National Monument on Dam Square. This ceremony is usually attended by members of the cabinet and the royal family, military leaders, representatives of the resistance movement and other social groups. But also cemeteries in other cities have ceremonies.
At 8.00 pm, two minutes of silence are observed throughout the Netherlands.
