What's in a name? Part 2
I always put a lot of consideration and thought into naming a new dog. There is a story behind most of my boys' names.
Hero is the great grandson of my old boy Robbie. I blipped Robbie's story on the 27th April.
Robbie was an old man when Hero was born and I was so excited by the thought of having Robbie, his son Whisper and his great grandson in the house at the same time.
I knew already from the beginning what I wanted Hero's registered name to be. Beat was (as blipped a couple of days ago) named after an Irish Dance Show, so I wanted the same kind of name for Hero.
Robbie's first Heelwork To Music routine was performed to 'Dance Above The Rainbow' from the Irish Dance Show 'Feet Of Flames' and that was the name I wanted for my new puppy. It would link him to Beat as they would both be named after Irish Dance Shows and it would link him to Robbie as he would be named after his music. And it would be a super name for a dancing dog.
His pet name was going to be River - from River Dance to continue the Irish dance theme.
Then 2 weeks before Hero was old enough to join us, Robbie suddenly got very ill and he was put to sleep. Robbie's registered name was Whenway Decorated Hero, so the night he got ill and I realised that he would never get to meet his great grandson, I decided to name the puppy after him.
Hero's registered name remained the same 'Littlethorn Feet Of Flames' from Robbie's first HTM music, but his pet name was changed to Hero from Robbie's name 'Decorated Hero'.
You can see Robbie's Feet Of Flames routine here!
When Hero competed in HTM for the first time, he danced to the same music! See his routine here!
Have a great weekend, blippers!
