Revolution flag

This flag flying at the Parliament building has the center cut out. Prior to the 1956 uprising, a Communist coat of arms was in the center. Protestors cut the center from the flag, which became the symbol of that movement. The uprising was crushed, but the Communist symbol did not return to the flag although Communism itself lingered until 1989.
