Mt Warning

This quick shot of Mt Warning was taken on the way into Murwillumbah in NSW near the Qld border. Early settlers noted that Murwillumbah was the Aborigianal place name for the area between the Rous and Tweed Rivers and means "Place of many possums".
Mt Warning is the central volcanic remnant of an ancient volcano and was named by Lt James Cook on 17th May 1770. He was the first European to record seeing
"a remarkable sharp peaked mountain lying inland". He named it Mt. Warning to warn other sailors that would follow him of the dangerous reefs he encountered to the north.
We are back in Brisbane again for a few days so I may not get to comment much but will be trying to check out everyone's blips. I hope you all have a great weekend.
