Next Project House!

Work has started at the next house!

And I'm not there. Great. Sigh.

My father flew in a couple of days ago, and I'm still stuck at Rancho finishing off. Tenants have moved into Rancho, my handyman is just getting in the way and not completing stuff that he was tasked with (and paid to do), so I've taken his final jobs over and got loads of other little jobs completed.

Tomorrow morning I just need to install the dishwasher and then I'm done....apart from the toilet flange I broke so I'll be back there next week (hopefully Saturday) to fix that.

But it does mean that after this long weekend (thank heavens as I need a weekend off) that I can join my father and wife at the new house.

This picture is the kitchen - obviously - but its one of the two weak things in this house (the other is the main bathroom). Previous owners have made do, and/or added huge numbers of layers of paint and wallpaper to the walls. Plus the cabinets need to come out, counter replaced, but hopefully this is off the shelf stuff. With the aggro I've had at Rancho I reckon I'm well versed to put this kitchen back together.

The walls though are just horrible and thankfully my father took an instant dislike to them, not to mention various scrappers. The kitchen will look so nice when it's done.

The rest of the house just needs repainting. Another small problem is the huge amount of paint on each of the doorways, so every one (7 in total) need totally stripping down before being rubbed down and repainted. Once we get onto painting, things will go very quickly with this project.

The only worrying thing is the mention of some rotten wood that was found earlier. Rotten wood means two things, there was a leak that may or may not have been fixed, and the wood will need replacing but just how much gets replaced? I'll find out on Tuesday!
