Radstock's winding wheel

This winding wheel is a reminder of Radstock's coal mining industry - around 1901, there were 79 separate collieries in the area. The wheel stands in front of the musuem, where I was due to meet up with a couple of friends today.

The museum cafe has a reputation for wonderful cake, but I have yet to discover if this is true, as the last time we tried to meet up there, it was closed for the winter and today it was closed until 2 pm (and we were meeting at 1). So once again, we ended up in the Co-op cafe.

This was taken with my compact camera because, yet again, it was 'monsooning' down when I left home this morning.
