Flood Plain

Still a bit wet:)

Saw a female blackbird run over today, the car tossed out a mass of feathers, leaving it's squashed body laying in the middle of the road. A few seconds later, her mate flew down, looking very shocked and proceeded to stand guard over her body. Luckily he still had self-preservation in mind and flew out of the way as another car approached.

When I walked back that way half and hour later, he was still nearby, in a tree clucking his alarm call. I wondered if they had any children and would he feed them?
