For the love of Damien

Inside this black box in the Turbine Hall of Tate Modern stands a diamond encrusted skull entitled "for the love of God'. It is reported to be worth £50m, cost £14m to make and was produced over an 18 month period out of platinum. It is "crazy in its perfection" and incredibly beautiful.

The same could not be said of the rest of Damien's exibition. Whereas A thousand years and The physical impossibility of death in the mind of someone living are shocking but rewarding pieces, many of the others appeared quite shallow. There are only so many coloured dots and dead butterflies you can stand.

Verdict: 2 or 3 supremely accomplished ideas, the rest is so much wallpaper.
