Waterfoot Sunrise

Busy Bee

I had always thought retirement was going to involve long lies in bed, sitting around drinking coffee and reading papers as well as time for hobbies such as golf, fishing, gardening, painting and walking.

Reality is quite different once you get involved with community organisations. Just as with work, there are lots of meetings, working parties and papers circulating. It all takes up time and leaves less for hobbies. And of course, along came blip and that was another chunk out of my day. Don't get me wrong I am thoroughly enjoying every aspect of it, but it does take up time!

This was to be my rest day in the middle of the week and I did manage to get out for a round of golf, which was great, as was the weather. However there were still tasks to be done at home and it was the Camera Club AGM this evening. Lots of discussion and a nice little cheese and wine to round of the evening. Managed to get myself roped into the committee, which means more free time taken up with meetings!

Actually, the great thing about retirement is you choose what you want to do and you can walk away from it at any time. I suppose deep down I would rather be busy than sitting around doing nothing!
