Diary of a Scilly cow

By Bryher

Smooth as a mill pond...

This morning we left Port Solent (in the rain) and headed out to sea. We would be away now till Sunday, 7 of us travelling in our little caravan on the water.

Papworth Hospital entered 3 boats to compete in the racing. I was lucky to sail with some very lovely people, to run down....not 1 but 2 cardiac surgeons, one of which was our skipper (If I'd needed life saving bypass surgery I was on the right boat) A very lovely modern matron also doubling up as our navigator. 1 cardiac technician, 1 senior house officer and myself and 1 other who work in the field of research !

Today was training day, I'd not sailed for a couple of years. For me it was all about getting back into the swing of things again and quite literally re-learning the ropes !

By the evening the sun had come out and it was glorious weather. We sailed to the Isle of Wight, passing Cowes heading up stream to the Folly Inn where we moored for the night with the other 2 Papworth Boats. It was an idyllic evening of drinking and great food :)
