May Day
Today is May Day and it would seem that everyone up and down the land has their own way of celebrating it. In Edinburgh, we have the Beltane Fire Festival, in Cornwall, they have dancing hobby horses and in St Andrews, there's a degree of naked cavorting on the beach.
However, I'm going to dedicate today's May Day blip entry to my wonderful Grandad who sadly died many years ago. He was a dapper gentleman with a heart of gold who took me on many adventures when I was a child and I still miss him to this day. Every year on the 1st day of May, my Grandad always made the short pilgrimage to Holyrood Park (he lived in Easter Road) to wash his face in the early morning dew and, today, for the first time ever, I followed in his footsteps and did the same.
There's an old Edinburgh tradition that young women who climb Arthur's Seat and wash their faces in the early morning dew will have lifelong beauty. Kinda feel I've missed the boat on that one but hey, they say it's the taking part that counts!
I hope you enjoy today's tune which is dedicated to all the men I've ever loved.
