Bye, Maya

It was officially time to close the doors on our haunt for the last six months; in some ways turning our backs on Maya meant that there would be no more bog washing, bed making, bacon cooking, pillow case ironing, pointless driving, tile scrubbing, stampedes of washing up or highly strung guests. But it also signified an imminent departure from this inarguably beautiful valley, with mountain peaks that were still getting drowned in snow but rocky paths lower down that were alluringly Spring like, and desperate for running jumping feet. It means no more complimentary over-buttered left overs, sloppy seconds on bottles of delicious wine and a free apartment next to one of the most famous ski areas in Europe. So, in short [for once], a mixed bag.

In two days we depart this epic adventure and in so many ways it's intimidatingly painful to leave- but the promise of dozens of grinning gleaming wondrously familiar faces upon arrival sends shivers down our spines in anticipation of one extensive reunion..
