Birthdays Tomorrow
Several friends are having birthdays tomorrow. Occasionally, just occasionally, I manage to get a card in the mail to the birthday person. Today was one of those occasions. I must confess, though, the mail pick-up time was 5:00 p.m. and I was about two minutes before deadline. Nothing like getting done at the eleventh hour.
When I was young, I used to prepare birthday cards a month in advance. Where the stamp belonged, I would put the date of the birthday so that I knew when the card needed to be mailed and keep them in a special box of "cards to be mailed." I'm not sure what happened to that effective organization, but it no longer is practiced here.
I love birthdays, so it is always a thrill when I do manage to get a card sent to a friend to let that person know that I am celebrating him or her.
Birthday postage stamps are fun too. So when they first went on sale (a zillion years ago), I purchased a bundle of them. I must have naively thought that postage rates were not going to increase. The large 34 on that stamp reveals that it is 11 cents shy of legitimate. Maybe I just thought that they wouldn't be available again after they had sold-out.
Good night from Southern California for the last time this April.
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
P.S. The little "hot dogs" were reunited with their parents about 10:30 last night. It was a moment filled with barks and licks and prancing and dancing. We have no doubt that those two little cuties are today missing "Funville" and wondering if they'll ever see us again.
