Wind, blow your cheeks!
Travelled up to Melrose to start the St Cuthbert's Way walk tomorrow. It's a long distance path (65 miles) to Lindisfarne and links many places associated with the life of St Cuthbert, a 7th century saint. Some people do it as a pilgrimage. We were doing it as a good distance to cover for a week's walking holiday.
Melrose is a very pretty Scottish town. Its Abbey is one of the four great Border Abbeys, and was founded in 1136. The heart of Robert the Bruce is reputed to be buried here. We arrived late afternoon so had some time to explore. This was my favourite shot, from the Abbey roof.
The weather forecast for the week was awful, so I was rather hoping the gargoyle would blow all the rainclouds away.
