Lothianbridge...
...or Newbattle Viaduct, or Newtongrange Viaduct, or South Esk and Dalhousie Viaduct, in Midlothian, Scotland.
This structure used to (and hopefully soon will again) carry the Edinburgh/Borders Railway.
There is a sad story which connects my band, The Newtongrange Silver Band with this bridge.
In 1906 the conductor of the band, Mr James Neilson, was going into Edinburgh for a performance with the small string group he played with. It was a terrible night and he took a shortcut to the station across the viaduct. Unfortunately, due to the weather he didn't hear the approaching train and he was knocked down and died soon after from his injuries.
The image of him hunched against the wind and driving rain with the sheer drop to his side, stepping between the track sleepers, collar up and violin case under his arm, and the unheard approaching engine belching smoke and sparks is one that quite haunts me.
