Hoka Highland Fling

Had a brilliant day today at the Fling, an ultra marathon that runs the first 53 miles of the West Highland Way. You can also run it as a relay team doing 12 - 14 miles each. We were doing it as a relay. The sun was shining and the sky was blue and the rain and wind that has been around the last few weeks was gone. We met at Milngavie at 8am ready for a 9am start, some of the ultramarathoners were already 3 hours in by then. I ran the third leg which was along the banks of Loch Lomond and boy was it tough, the terrain was really rocky with lots of tree roots, however the scenery was stunning. I felt really bad passing all the full flingers esxpecially since they kept telling me well done, I was only doing a poxy 13 miles they were already about 28 miles in at this point! We finished in a good time and were rewarded with beer, champagne, medals and bags. What a race. I am sorely tempted to do the whole thing next year but not sure my other half will agree!
