missing light 2: Vermeer

continued yesterday now today: Den Haag. We went to Mauritshuis museum only to find out that all paintings have been moved to another museum. It felt like someone makes it difficult to actually see a Vermeer. So we went to the other museum only to find a long queu in front of the building and inside it was terribly crowded. Who said people are no longer interested in culture?
But we saw Vermeer amongst other interesting paintings. The favourite 'Girl with a pearl earring' is actually amazing when you see it in real. It has so much more impact that both Fleur and I shivered. At least once we got close enough. Once close we took our time to 'drink' the painting slowly. Many people took photographs (without flash), trying to frame it. I took this one (with some motion blur) because it shows the crowd around the girl. She could have never imagined that millions of people know her face.
