New Garden

Another early morning blip. This is a view behind our house. When we built an extension to the house a few years ago we lost a section of the garden that had ben slowly (painfully) built up over the years - so I have started a "new garden" extension at the bottom of the croft. Lots of trees have been planted, and to give them a start in life I place an old car tyre around the sapling. This keeps the grass/weeds down around the new tree/bush, protects it from the wind (important here!) and generally creates a favourable micro-climate around the new plant. The tyres can be added to as the plant grows, until it reaches a stage that it is surviving alone. It may not look pretty in the short-term, but it works!
