light & shade

set off up the town with the parents in the rain. spent long enough looking at guidebooks in waterstones that it stopped. then long enough in blacks/millets/trespass looking at waterproof jackets for my dad that it was sunny when we came out! actually pleasant.

less pleasant: getting phone call from work, emergency favour
more pleasant: being promised extra pay for overtime i did a while back and had given up on being able to claim
more: talking to himself
less: two subjects that cause prickles and hackles
more: other subjects that don't
more: a conversation that lasts more than 90 seconds on an issue that's not work-related.

this one step forward might be followed by one or two back, but at least it's forward motion right now.
