"Scots Guardsman" at Culross.

We visited Culross again this morning with the express purpose of taking some photos of today's SRPS railtour which was hauled by Royal Scot class engine number 46115, "Scots Guardsman" This engine was the star of the old 1936 film "Night Mail" featuring the famous W H Auden poem "This is the Night Mail crossing the border/bringing the cheque and the postal order".
The old girl was doing a perfectly respectable 50 mph or so and, despite hauling eleven coaches, was on us and away again in mere seconds.
By the time we got back to the car, she was well away and we just managed to catch up at Stirling but could not get good shots as there were too many people standing admiring her and anyway, the sun was behind her.
Then with a couple of hoots on that deep-toned Stanier whistle she picked up her coaches and was gone.
I can think of far worse ways of spending a Saturday morning!
