Dolphins in the wild

We left at 9am this morning from Paihia, and not far from Russell, we spotted a pod of Bottlenose Dolphins. They were very interested in the boat, and were very playful. One of them kept getting some seaweed around its dorsal fin. They were extremely entertaining! It was fabulous being out on the water in the beautiful Bay of Islands. We went to the Hole in the Rock, but it was too rough to go through.

After we got back to Paihia this afternoon, we took the girls to Waitangi, where they had a very real lesson on how New Zealand was born into the nation that it is now.

We then came back to the hotel and had a swim at the "heated" lap pool. Heated my arse! It was baltic!!! But we stayed in for quite some time, so it can't have been that bad.
