A Royal Mile Entry

With a reversal of the weather to give blue skies and sunshine with albeit a very chilly wind, his Lordship and I donned cameras and pretending we were visitors, mixed with the tourists down the Royal Mile.
I couldn't resist this blip of an entry off the Royal Mile where the dark pink cherry blossom and the reddish orange of the building worked so well together.

Our destination was the Palace Cafe at Holyrood where we sat long enough to demolish the best fruit scones I've tasted for a long time, and believe me, I'm an expert, before walking back home through Holyrood Park, this time as locals.

Although it was quiet compared with the High Street, there were the usual joggers, walkers, cyclists doing silly speeds down the road and even a unicyclist starting a rather wobbly circuit of the Parliament precinct.

The park was looking wonderful in the sunshine. The gorse was bright yellow against the red crags and the grass seemed greener and more manicured than is usual in a public space.

Back home the cherry trees which have failed to show themselves to their best advantage in the last week's rain were finally resplendent underneath a blue sky studded with non threatening white clouds.

I am awaiting the arrival of Glasgow granddaughter this afternoon for a fitting of an Aran cardigan I've been knitting for her. I have a horrible suspicion that it is going to be too small and all that cabling and pattern concentration will be as nought.
Shrinking grandchildren in a very hot wash is not an option.
