Invade me if you must

After my recent misadventures, a period of home based calm is called for.

One of my favourite tress in the garden is the staghorn sumac. Dramatic, powerful, very attractive it is nevertheless reviled as an invasive nuisance. Be that as it may I have nurtured several babes and given them to friends because even if it is a weed it is a joy to behold in summer and autumn when its leaves turn red.

So I am pleased to see it emerge once more from hibernation and I cry Hail Rhus Typhina!!
