SLAB 6: Expanding the theremin
Tonight was the start of a workshop series called SLAB, the running of it is part of my new job.
SLAB stands for Studio-Lab, a place where participants can experiment and build new forms of thinking and working around a subject. This SLAB series is called Expanding the theremin, a bunch of enthusiastic people are going to explore the use of the theremin as a means to control various audio visual equipment, lights, sound and electronics.
At the intro tonight one of the instructors brought along a video feedback set up. From what I could gather it included a cheap hand held security camera, an old tv monitor and some speakers. All this hooked up together with a projector, it created the most brilliant patterns. I can't wait to see what works are presented in a show at VIVO in a few weeks time.
