In Between Days

This is my Kasparov Team Mate electronic chess game. I've had it a very long time. I'm not quite sure when I got it but I think I got it for a birthday or Christmas and I certainly had it at uni. I can remember someone I knew beating it on its highest level. It took about five minutes to calculate each move! Me? I always struggled on the lowest levels. Chess to me is like playing guitar - it's something I've always wanted to be able to do, something I tried and something I was never really any good at. Never too old to learn though! Only problem is I think it no longer works. The kids play with it though. They can't really play chess but hey can play at playing chess. Alana is interested so maybe we can learn together. I think my mum thought she had a couple of genius grand kids when she called round the other day and found my two playing chess at the kitchen table.

Another rainy day. Apparently there is still a drought on though and it would have to rain like this everyday until December for there not to be. Today I learnt that more water evaporates in summer than we get in rainfall.

Speaking of learning things I haven't been aware of for years - since using the bus more often I have found out that on the top deck of a double decker towards the back there are seats with absolutely loads of leg room. I'm not sure if this is a national phenomenon or just one that is peculiar to the Arriva 410.
