Hot off the press

I have been heavily involved in a local election campaign over the last few weeks.

Last night we discovered that someone had made a complaint about a minor (some might say "trivial", but I couldn't possibly comment) rule infraction in the presentation of the contact details on our latest campaign leaflet.

Presumably in an attempt to slow down the delivery of what is proving to be a very popular message.

A pathetically weak attempt as it turned out. Armed with nothing more than a laptop, a cheap inkjet printer and a few hundred sticky labels, we amended the remaining stock of leaflets this morning, and they are once again winging their way towards an eager electorate.

It would be nice to think that elections could be fought entirely on the issues. After all, the consequences are quite important. Resorting to this kind of tactic seems like a bit of an insult to the voters.
