Flew into Washington DC today for the orientation seminar of a programme that will take us back to Russia for another year. Though temperatures in Moscow have suddenly soured (from +5 to +20 overnight) there are still piles of snow around and the trees are bare. Landing in leafy DC felt like being transported into summer. And into the West Wing.
