Crazy Big Pots

This afternoon we visited the large vase factory. It blew my mind. I've never seen pots so big in my entire life. It made my work seem so insignificant. We saw one vase that was a good 15-20 feet tall. In order to achieve their massive size, they throw the vases in sections. It takes about 3 guys to pull the clay up for each section. Then they dry trim and attach the sections when everything is bone dry. Next the pots move onto the decorators. They are either painted or carved. The carving was amazing. We saw several in progress.
This is a picture of the court yard between all of the studios. It is full of sections of pots drying out, waiting to be trimmed and assembled. In the background you can see 2 large vases, but they weren't the biggest.
We weren't at the factory for very long, so I'm already planning a trip back. There will be more pictures to come of these enormous pots during the next few months.
