After Mr A's clearout of just part of the loft at the weekend, we have ended up with several boxes of "stuff" that still need to be dealt with (in the bathroom, on the landing and in the hallway...).

Anyway, one of the boxes was this - containing old cassettes for holding slides. Does anyone ever use these things these days?

It always used to be a treat at Christmas to have a "slide show", with the family sitting round in a circle to get a good view of the projector screen. This usually resulted in the youngest members of the family sitting on the floor resting against the legs of the grandparents who were settled into the comfy chairs (invariably asleep after a large Christmas lunch AND tea). I can still remember the smell of the hot projector as the heat from the lamp warmed the transparencies within those little plastic or cardboard frames... and as I got older it was a special treat to be allowed to be the "projectionist" for the evening!
