gardening with bite
down in northumberland for a few days, doing the usual wander round my dad's garden early evening to see what's new. everything's been lush this year - to the point of overgrown and spoiled in a lot of cases. and the veg has been overwhelmed with beasties, too - this is the cabbage white infestation of the turnips (post-slugs and pre-rabbits, i think). suffice to say my father is not impressed! but i was rather fascinated by the amount of them (absolutely loads, tho most gone in a couple of days) and the industriousness - this chap was working thru the very last mouthfuls of this leaf into what looked a very precarious position!
