ANZAC DAY Dawn Service
April 25th is the most significant public occasion in Australia it marks the the first major conflict that Australia took part in. 8000 lost their lives. The purpose of this military action was to storm the beaches of Gallipoli and advance on Constantinopole
(now Istanbul) as Turkey was aligned with Germany. A great deal of gallantry and heroism was shown on both sides of the conflict. This military objective was not met. It is from this engagement that the legend of the Anzac was born.
It is solemnly remembered each year in various community settings all over Australia as todays blip attests. You will a large cross section of people including the very young.
