Dandelion clock
I felt inspired by the shot GrumpyOldGit posted the other day so I went off to shoot a dandelion clock of my very own. Sadly, it became a master class of how not to do it. If you too want to take a poor picture, here's what I learnt:
1. Find a windswept, bedraggled specimen. Perfect is so boring.
2. Crouch in an unsteady position. Tripods are never to hand when you need them and camera shake adds that homespun feel.
3. Don't bother with a macro lens. Why do you think Photoshop has a cropping tool?
4. Use a long lens. It magnifies the quaint shake mentioned in (2) above.
5. Make sure that you don't use such a large aperture that you blur the background out completely. Grass gives a great meadow-like feel.
Pooh. Must do better next time.
