Superfast..

..this is about to cross our driveway. It is for a massively fast fibre optic cable that is being installed - 6 miles long - from the Appleton Tower of the University of Edinburgh to Easter Bush.

It will support the LAN that will move data around the University at super speed - and help connect to JANET (which is the communications web that holds together the universities for education and research).

Imagine all that flashing past beneath my feet.
