Runny Honey
'Flu day 5.
Today I have the joy of not actually having a raging fever and the shivers. I'm sure I've over temperature but I'm trying to rest and let me body do it's thing rather than fight the symptoms with paracetamol. At night I'm taking paracetamol and even that doesn't stop me having very strange dreams and terrible sleep.
The only problem is now I've developed a hacking cough. I'd read on wikipedia that there isn't actually much evidence to support most cough mixtures (prescription or otherwise) and checked it out on the NHS web site too - which is surprisingly good. I've tried to steer clear of them as a result be now it may be worth trying some that may help - even if they taste awful.
Looking at the active ingredients of many of the OTC drugs you may as well make them your self from honey and lemon, they are little more than thick sugar solution! Some do actually list sugar as their active ingredient! The NHS says honey helps to sooth the throat and may reduce the incidence of coughing. This is the last of my running honey dripping into a mug of lemon tea - the NHS site says to keep drinking to avoid dehydration.
If I can get a good nights sleep I'll go back to work tomorrow, I'm bored at home and there are lots of things to do at work. I just need to stop the 15 minutes cough attacks at 3am first.
