Whatcha got cookin'?

Today is the first day of a new series of blips! The reason: I upgraded to a Canon EOS 40D, which is a rather large change from my old trusty PowerShot A510.

I walked around the neighbourhood a bit to try out the new camera. Unfortunately I only brought the 17-85 mm kit lens, and not the 50 mm. After I tried that one, I haven't reattached the 17-85 anymore. I just love to play with depth-of-field effects. The wider aperture is quite good for night shots too!

I really liked the lighting on this picture, which is the main reason why I chose this one for upload. Hardly any postprocessing; just a slight colour temperature adjustment and crop.
