Tarn

The first day of our break away found Hubby and I admiring the autumn colours in the countryside before startimg the gradual climb of the Lewis Pass where the New Zealand Beech trees aligned both sides of the road.

Once at the summit, we stretched our legs and went for a wander. We discovered this small tranquil Tarn surrounded by Beech trees caught in the light. Little alpine treasures of fungi and mosses had made homes amongst the tussock, so much beauty between the mountains.

We had a picnic lunch at Marble Hill and then headed to the small mining town of Reefton with its historical buildings. Tonight we had the pleasure of dining with TeeJay and kiwilizzie, lovely to catch up again :)

Warm thanks to you all for your kind holiday wishes, we move on tomorrow heading to the West Coast.
