A year of adventure

Days 79 and 80

Friday 23rd December:
I worked this morning with Stacey and then Mum and Dad arrived just after lunchtime so I quickly7 packed my bag and drove over to Bukela to see them. It was very exciting to see them again and to catch up on life. The boys disappeared off and came back with something hidden behind their backs and said, one word each at a time, 'We. Have. Bought. You. An. Engagement. Rooster.' It was the funniest thing I have ever heard. Then the boys showed me our room and everything and I sat and chatted over things with mum, a lot of wedding type things too. We went out on night drive, which was very exciting as I had never been on a proper night drive before, we went out for about an hour last time we were here and all we saw were spring hares, but this time we saw lots of things, including a couple of hyena. Then we came home and went to bed. The boys were busy talking rubbish and giving me a rendition of the speech they intend to make at my wedding, one word each, which resulted in some interesting sentences.

Saturday 24th December:
When we were arranging this morning's drive last night Diane said that the boat was booked for us to go on, so I asked if Stacey could come with us as she hadn't been on the new boat yet. So I got up at about 5 and mum and I drove over to the club to collect her and then drove back. We went on a little bit of a drive on the way to the boat and then it was the boat drive, which was done by Harley. It was good fun and we saw a lot of kingfishers. It was nice to be back on drive again and Stacey pointed out to me some of the places that were talked about and I just didn't know where they were, places from the stories of the history of Amakhala. Then we got back to Bukela and had breakfast and then I took Stacey back over to the club, and the boys came with me to keep me company. Instead of going straight back to Bukela we went via Colchester and Nanaga, because I needed to get some fuel for the car. We got some snacks and drink for the boys at colchester and then stopped at nanaga to get biltong for daddy and I bought koeksisters for mum to try. Then we went back to bukela and got there just in time for afternoon tea and then we went out on gamedrive again. WE got back from drive, had dinner and then sat and chatted for a while before heading to bed.
