A Memorial

to two teens, to heroism and tragedy.

This is an abutment to a railroad bridge. High schoolers climbed on the track and bridge and jumped into the Erie Canal. On this day a train rounded the bend and the kids left the track, however, a girl's shoe wedged under the rail. Her friend returned to her and managed to free her foot. Both were killed.

Their parents maintain the flowers. The railroad has fenced the path and installed a walkway aside the track. No one walks on the bridge any more.
