walk the line
today was the day where all my overscheduling finally came to a glorious intersection. work a busy day shift (on my usual evening shift day) and chase it with a fancy cocktail party in a university park house that is worth more than i ever have any aspirations to make. rub elbows like you know what you're doing. switch gears from your full-time nonprofit to one of your part-time ones. talk about biking to alaska.
talk to jamille's cousin who makes furniture for a living and feel like life is so very small and interconnected that it's painful. realize you are going to be late to your next meeting of the night, at trinity hall at 8:30p.
rush to make it (you're never late, what is this?). roll in, roll in. talk to this person who represents your future life for two hours. realize you are not going to be home until 11:30p. leave with a plan. this is the point, yes? but you are feeling the pull, except this time it isn't like every other time. it isn't dragging you off to someplace new: it's pulling you hard toward someplace that's all the same, but through different eyes.
just keep acting like you know what you're doing.
