Some Days

By Euphemist

Ssshhh....

...that's enough, now.

Poor Euphonium has had a long day today, and wants to just be quiet a for a bit.

See all the fingerprints and scratches!

I had a last minute call to play with the famous Cooperative Funeralcare Brass Band, from Glasgow, Scotland.

Their euphonium section had both gone AWOL (well, one on holiday and the other shaken-up but OK after a car accident) so I got a call to fill the gap.

In Lockerbie.

Near England.

On the West Side of Scotland.

It took some persuading, but Euphemia said I could do it as long as she came and we made a day of it.

I have never had a day with so few blippertunities, I drove down the A701 through the picturesque Devil's Beeftub on the way to Moffat and the M74. It rained, with the clouds just above ground level. No blip.

I got to Lockerbie Town Hall in time to take some shots. I had to look at the music, which turned out to be harder and much less familiar to me than promised.
Again, no blip.

So, driving home through the dark on the A702 I told Euphemia and the Euphling that we were going to stop for me to take a few long exposure shots of Edinburgh from the hills just above there. At the very lay-by the heavens once more opened.
No blip.

So home, and this rather lame set-up before bed.

Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible!

Fantastic concert, though, and brilliant band. Thanks for asking me, I'd do it all again tomorrow. Euphonium has gone very quiet now, too.
