Blue Steel

Not much time for a Blip today and the light had mostly gone when I took the camera out on the way back from Waverley Station.

It was either Gulls (again) or another abandoned Brolly (didn't come out as well as hoped)

The fascination with abandoned Brollies is wondering how they came to be...in the middle of a park for example. Or as the bright yellow one - spotted among some trees in Princes St Gardens today.

They always look a bit forlorn and I sometimes wonder if they were ripped out the unsuspecting owners hand by a huge gust of wind...alternatively, the spokes fell apart and some irate being hurled it out of sight in a rage.

There are some old photos of me and a sibling as tiny tots, holding huge umbrellas.
One windy day, our grandmother told us that if we went up onto the small wooden shed/ coal house thingy - waited for a big gust of wind and jumped at exactly the right moment...it would lift us up and we'd go flying through the air.

Don't remember how many times we clambered up on that shed and jumped...but do remember believing that next time would be the one and think we persevered all afternoon!
No doubt we slept like logs that night. Grandmother was no fool ...not sure the same can be said for us but then, I was only four.

So just to throw a curve after Brolly reminiscences - the raindrops and the way the blue building reflected on the steel chairs just appealed to me.
