Mahonia "Charity"

This is such a generous plant, it started flowering mid-October last year and kept going until the end of February, great food source for over-wintering bees and butterflies. Lots of the smaller birds eat the yellow flowers too.

Loads of berries formed during March and they started ripening last week, it's common name is "Oregon Grape" and the blackbirds are having a whale of a time balancing on the branches and guzzling the fruit. Sorry I've failed to capture what would have been an interesting blip but the birds see me coming and fly off :-(
