Sant Jordi

La Sant Jordi is a Catalan festival. Saint George is the patron saint of Catalonia, as he is of many counties around the world including, would you believe, Georgia. It is traditional to give a book and a rose at this time and UNESCO has adopted the day as its World Book Day (see also Peopletwitcher. ) So there were festivities down at the village market with the Catalan dress and music to the fore. My friend Claude usually plays the guitar with these two but as they wanted to be ambulant and he lacks a radio mike, he was just a supporter today. The song they were singing in a mixture of French and Catalan was Perpignan, la ville que j'aime.
