Leaving Miss Annie

The thing I dislike most about going on vacation is leaving Miss Annie. (Packing is a close second). We were lucky to find a boarding kennel where she is treated like a very special dog -- which of course she is. But it keeps getting harder to leave her as she ages and becomes more frail.

I groomed her today, although it's only a week since the Park & Clip van came. She used to hate being groomed, but I've learned that little, often, and gently makes it relaxing for both of us. She really seemed to enjoy the attention. I think she already knows we're going away, even though we've been very discreet about the preparations.

We'll have to bring back some really special dog treats from Portland.
