My Day, My Life

Ben

Friday night is Speedway night, well from mid-march to mid-October it is.

And this evening we were entertaining Workington Comets.

When I say 'we', I don't mean Mrs blip and myself.

No, Edinburgh Monarchs were and in the process they were hoping to avenge their recent drubbing at the hands of the Comets

This was to be no mean feat, as the Comets are strongly fancied.

(not by me I hasten to add, I've always liked girls) ;)

They have a strong/solid team, however our team have been having a few problems of late and it was beginning to affect the confidence of some of them.

Well, that was then.

Tonight we trounced them 54-39 and sent them home to think again.

The race jacket pictured above, was 'lived in by Ryan Fisher, a former Monarch, still fondly remembered by many supporters at Armadale

I bought it for My Girl on a well known auction site, as she's mad keen on the sport, as are we all.

What I paid for it, will go straight back into the charity that it is promoting.

The BEN fund, or Benevolent fund, is a registered charity which helps riders who have been seriously injured, or are on long term recovery and also riders who have been paralysed.

It's a growing charity, small by comparison to all those others that we see everyday, but still, providing invaluable help for those that need it most.

Thank-you to Julie, for bringing it from Sheffield with her tonight.
A lovely lady doing a great job for The Ben Fund
